Someone told him you were talking about him a lot. I'd call him and say that this is bothering you. You do need to ask yourself, "Did I talk about him a lot?" and then answer yourself honestly. He does not want to rat anyone out, but he is bothered by it, too. Otherwise he wouldn't have said anything at all. Don't get emotional when talking to him, just ask him what is up with it and why he keeps saying "I bet you talk about me a lot". The truth will come through, or maybe something resembeling it. People and relationships are screwy.
