What are some good ideas for designing a backyard for older kids?

Clubhouse is a grea idea, how about a basketball hoop. I don't think they will be interested in the swings for long. You might be able to get them interested in a small vegetable garden. Just a small section for each and let them pick one thing that they want to grow. You can help them with reading on how to take care of these.
