Residency help? Urgent!?

I live in north Carolina and I'm trying to get in-state tuition at a school I'm applying to. My parents are separated, but this year they filed jointly and in the state my dad lives in not my mom. If they claimed me as their dependent, even though my mom doesn't live with him, can I still get in-state tuition?
