Chevy 99 s10 blazer please help ?

To day my coolant was low when i check it. It was the back up coolant. It took half a jug of coolant. Is that fine or is that bad should I have some one look at it ? But I do use the heat every day and run it for 10 minutes. And I have spin out a week cuz i didn't have enough track son to go up the hill . Again should i take it in? I live in MN two.
